Hamish Johnstone: BSc, Post grad dip dietetics, NZRD Hamish is an accredited practising Dietitian who specialises in sport, weightloss and diabetes. He competed at an elite level in his sport as a professional fighter, winning NZ titles and developed his passion for sport and sport nutrition there. He then went on to the Australian institute of sport to train in Sport Nutrition at a higher level. He has an interest in all aspects of health and nutrition, having worked for Waitemata district health board, in a clinical setting, specialising in diabetes.
Through practical messages and models of delivery Hamish is able to use the latest sport science and nutrition science to help clients achieve their goals. Whether that goal is weight loss, weight gain, increased performance or managing conditions like diabetes.
He has worked with many athletes to help them achieve their goals in a wide range of sports such as Boxing, Thai boxing, surf lifesaving, basketball, football, Rowing, Rugby and ultra marathon running.
Additionally Hamish has presented for Diabetes Youth Auckland, been involved with Riding on insulin and was a DAFNE accredited educator. He has trained in and taught Thai boxing, has run the Hillary 80km Ultra Marathon, Mt Difficulty Marathon, The Kepler 60km Mountain ultra, Ring of fire 72km Mountain ultra , the Tarawera Ultra Miler twice and the Taupo 100km Ultra twice. He also is an avid surfer (regularly visiting Bali and Samoa) and snow boarder.
